We enable individuals to contribute meaningfully to scientific research. Our comprehensive support includes pathways to publication in esteemed journals, collaborations with academics at world-renowned universities, upskilling opportunities, article writing support, research presentation platforms, open source partnerships, and industrial mentorship. We bridge the gap between scientific passion and practical, open contribution.
The current academic landscape presents significant barriers to scientific participation. Funding constraints and institutional limitations often prevent capable individuals from contributing to research, regardless of their expertise or motivation. Independent Science addresses this challenge by creating pathways for motivated, qualified individuals to engage in scientific work through alternative approaches. We believe strongly in open data and reproducible models and aim to ensure that the research our contributors develop is of the highest quality and technical rigour.
We connect individuals with projects aligned to their expertise and interests, open source or private. Whether computational, theoretical, or experimental, we help coordinate meaningful contributions. Open source partnerships are an important aspect of our research pathway so if you would like to collaborate or contribute, please do reach out.
We establish connections between independent researchers and academic institutions, creating opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships that leverage the skills and time of the researcher and academic mentor.
We provide guidance on disseminating research, from academic blogs to peer-reviewed journals, we ensure that valuable contributions reach the appropriate scientific communities. As proponents of reproducible and transparent science we aim for all publications to adhere to this and be of a high quality, offering feedback and guidance.
For individuals seeking to develop their scientific capabilities, we offer structured approaches to skill building and knowledge acquisition. Whether expanding into new domains or deepening existing expertise, we provide resources and mentorship to support continuous learning. We are currently trying to build out a knowledge map on Euclia, please let us know if you would like to contribute to this.
Independent Science emerged from a growing recognition that many talented individuals possess both the capability and desire to contribute to scientific advancement but lack clear pathways to do so.
This initiative began following discussions sparked by community interest in pursuing scientific research alongside professional responsibilities, demonstrating the significant demand for alternative approaches to scientific participation.
We built Euclia (our platform) in recognition of the fact that many researchers cannot get started until they have the basic tools and roadmap at their fingertips.
Independent Science operates as a collaborative community where individuals can find projects, collaborators, and guidance suited to their interests and capabilities, so why not get involved and join us? If you are a professor, open source project manager or other professional looking to get in touch for collaborations please email us at: afiqhatta.ah@gmail.com or jesszcarr@gmail.com. We are always open to feedback so please do let us know if you have views on the project.
